Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is a quiet town situated in the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of different communities. People who have never known about it may confuse it with a separate island facing west. Amanda Brugel grew up on the island and is frequently referred to as her birthplace. It is true that she resided there for a very short duration. Brugel became a young woman living in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. Early ambitions were to become an expert dancer. But, a growing increase caused her to surpass her dance partners she was able to have. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inches." When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting and in the case of Brugel, it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school that pushed her in the right direction. Her teacher invited her to try out for roles in a school production. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the lead actress for Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her BA in Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. Most notable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian on the Season 1 actors of the series as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
